How Do We Evolve?
It is mainly our attention or the flow of our waking consciousness which becomes 'enlightened'. The physical body can also benefit because it is maintained and supervised by various systems of consciousness.
At the base of the spine, in the physical body, is a bone called the 'Sacrum', which has a triangular shape. In that bone, but on a level which is more subtle than the physical, resides an energy or awareness known as Kundalini. It is dormant in most people. In India, people sometimes use the pronoun she rather than it. Kundal is a Sanskrit word meaning a coil and 'ini' is a grammatic ending which suggests feminine gender.
The development of our human awareness and the scope to achieve a significant improvement in our experience of life depends on part of the Kundalini becoming active and rising into the spinal chord. The Kundalini continues to rise and reaches the limbic area, at the top of brain. Then it should pass through the skull, near the fontanelle bone.
The Kundalini has the qualities of a wise and enlightened mother, who fully understands our needs and our capacities. When active, it is able to soothe subtle layers of our consciousness. Science currently does not understand what consciousness is or how it works but we are confident, as human beings, that consciousness is something which we possess. We are self-aware, as well as sentient. Modern psychology and medicine acknowledge that our consciousness can affect our physical body.
Another part of the evolutionary mechanism is the need for people to spend some time in meditation. This has many benefits, including helping the Kundalini to rise with more strength.
You do not have to pay for the awakening of the Kundalini. You did not pay anything to become a human being. The amoeba had no bank account. Fish became reptiles without establishing any business plan. If you put a seed into the earth, it will sprout, without any payment, because the seed has the inbuilt capacity to sprout and the earth has the necessary quality to support the process. It is a living process. Somehow, it just works!
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi (Royal Albert Hall, London, 14th July 2001)
"I bow to all the seekers of truth. Some of you have found the truth, some of you have not found it fully, and some of you have not found it at all. But if you look around in today’s situation, you’ll have to agree there’s a big turmoil going on. Countries after countries are taking to all kinds of wrong things. Lot of cold war is on, people are killing each other, destroying beautiful places, cutting each other’s throat for nothing at all. They are all human beings created by God. God Almighty has created them and has brought them to this level of human awareness.
At this juncture one can’t see where are we going in a collective way. This is, where have we to reach – or is it our destiny? Is this the destiny of human beings, to be destroyed by each other for land or for anything else? ..."
